Mrs. Kirkland graduated from California State University, Fresno with a degree in Business Administration and Economics. While attending CSUF, she was a member of the Economics Club, Federal Reserve Mock Committee, and Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity. After
graduation, she worked for State Compensation Insurance Fund as a certified workers compensation adjuster, where she gained valuable knowledge about the laws and rights of injured workers and solutions for business to prevent future claims.
In 2006, she began her graduate studies at San Joaquin College of Law where she earned her Juris Doctor degree. While at SJCL, Mrs. Kirkland was published in the SJCL Agricultural Law Review. She received oral advocacy awards at both the local and state level competitions. Her leadership activities at SJCL included Student Body Representative; 2010 SJCL Student of the Year; and member of LawSUIT, a legal community outreach organization.
Mrs. Kirkland worked as a Certified Mediator with the Better Business Bureau, where she mediated small claims and unlawful detainers. Mrs. Kirkland uses the skills learned through mediation to develop creative solutions to achieve the desired results for her clients. She interned with the Research Attorneys Group for the Fresno Superior Court Civil Division and Central California Legal Services in the Consumer Rights Division. Mrs. Kirkland started her legal practice in September of 2013. Prior to opening her own firm, Ms. Kirkland worked as an associate attorney in the field of immigration and as an associate attorney for insurance defense and business litigation.
Mrs. Kirkland is an active member with the Fresno County Bar Association, Treasurer of the Hugh Goodwin Bar Association, member of La Raza Lawyers Association, Board Member of Central California Legal Services and volunteer with Tenants Together; a tenants' rights organization. Mrs. Kirkland is admitted to practice by the California State Bar and in the Federal Court Eastern District.
